Apple Watch Series 10 is the thinnest Apple Watch to date at 7.8 mm, and the first to include sleep apnea detection — a FDA-cleared feature that monitors for patterns of disrupted breathing during sleep and prompts you to seek medical evaluation if consistent signs appear over 30 days. This alone makes it one of the most consequential updates since the ECG in Series 4, particularly for a condition that affects an estimated 1 billion people globally who don’t know they have it.
The display is the widest Apple Watch has ever shipped: a 46mm case now shows the same information area as the previous 49mm Ultra. Always-On Retina display at up to 2000 nits outdoors makes it readable in direct sunlight. Depth gauge and water temperature sensor join an already comprehensive health sensor array: optical blood oxygen, electrical heart sensor for ECG, and skin temperature for cycle tracking.
Fast charging brings Series 10 to 80% in 30 minutes — a meaningful improvement for a watch that most people charge beside the bed. Swimproof to 50 metres, the aluminium model is light enough to sleep in comfortably, which is required if you want sleep tracking data. The S9 chip handles Siri queries on-device so you aren’t broadcasting voice commands to a server.

Great watch. The depth and water temperature sensors are bonus features for swimming that add genuine value. One minor frustration: the “charging done” notification fires at 80% in optimised charging mode, which means you need to override it the night before a trip.
